Boykin Spaniel Training Seminars |
Throughout the year, Yocona River Boykin Spaniels will hold training seminars to help you in training your Boykin Spaniel Puppy. These workshops are hands on and provide a level of individualized attention to each owner and their dog so that everyone has an active role in the event. Raising Pup Seminar is designed for pups ranging from 8 weeks to 8 months of age and the curriculam is designed to help you to mold your dog into a well rounded and social companion dog and is also key in the developement of a properly trained gundog. Let's face it, most gundogs hunt only 3 to 4 months per year, and only a few times each of those months. The rest of the year they are family companions. Therefore obedience is a key element to their training. If we want a dog that is a joy and pleasure to be to be around, then that dog needs to be obedient and to understand his place within the hierarchy of our pack/family.
This seminar will also teach you how to properly prepare your dog for
retriever or flushing dog training whether you are going to have your dog trained
by a professional or opt to train the pup yourself. Without these
basic skills, pup will not be able to achieve it's full potential
as a retriever or flushing dog. For those that are awaiting a new pup, this seminar is perfect for you as well. This will prepare you for life with your new pup. Course Date: May 2, 2009 Course Fee: $150.00 Included in the course: 1 puppy lead that is an essential aide for teaching the basics of obedience. 1 Book - Leader of the Pack, by Nancy BaerWe are also starting to get interest from people that are wanting to train their own dog, but looking for guidance. This will be a basic gundog course that will be monthly. We will guide you through the process and send you home with assignments for you and your Boykin Spaniel to work on. Then on the following month, we will help evaluate your progress, help fix problems, and give you the next assignment in the progression of retriever training.
